We believe that menstruation matters.

Establishing a network to bring menstrual cups to the Dakar region in Senegal.

A project to learn and understand the feminine hygiene practices in Dakar, Senegal. To raise awareness about feminine hygiene management and make it a priority for women of all ages.

Dakar, Senegal

The Dakar Region, with a population of 3.14 million, is the smallest yet the most populated and developed Region of Senegal. A market analysis in this region will unveil the readiness of the Senegalese feminine hygiene market in the adoption of menstrual cups. The results of our project are a crucial step towards the launch of menstrual cup use in this region in the future.

Senegalese women experience social and economic constraints due to limited access to menstrual hygiene products.

As a result, a variety of unconventional and unhygienic products are used besides sanitation pads and tampons. The inappropriate use of feminine hygienic products has shown to result in the development of bacterial infections.

Why the Menstrual Cup is such a fantastic tool

Currently, there is no conclusive study that addresses the adaptability of menstrual cup usage in Dakar, Senegal. A menstrual cup has health, environmental and economic benefits if successfully adopted. The cup also offers more comfort and convenience to women as it needs to be changed less frequently than other conventional products. It can be retained for up to 8 hours at a time.

Menstrual Cups benefit every woman & region

The project aims to test the adaptability of women in Dakar, Senegal to a more economic, practical and environmentally friendly alternative to the menstrual hygiene products already available. We believe that these alternatives ought to be available to every woman no matter where they are.
